An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that involves removing excess skin and fat from the upper arms. This procedure can help to improve the appearance of the arms, making them look more toned and defined. It is often performed on individuals who have lost a significant amount of weight, or who have sagging skin due to aging.
The procedure typically begins with the administration of general anesthesia or IV sedation, after which an incision is made on the inner aspect of the arm, usually extending from the armpit to the elbow. Through this incision, excess skin and fat are removed and the remaining skin is tightened and reshaped to create a more toned appearance.
The recovery period following an arm lift can vary, but most patients are able to return to work and other normal activities within a few weeks. However, strenuous activities and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks, as the incision site needs time to heal.
The arm lift procedure can be performed on its own or combined with other body contouring procedures such as liposuction, tummy tuck or breast lift to enhance overall results. It is important to discuss these risks and the potential benefits of the procedure with your surgeon before deciding to undergo an arm lift.
